Role of Generativity on Elderly Women’s Social Relationship : Focused on Volunteering and Child Rearing

|
The purpose of this study was to explore the general tendencies of major variables and group differences and to analyze the variables that affected social relationship. The subjects were 200 old over 60 aged and were interviewed by structured questionnaire. The main results of this study are as follows: Firstly, generativity such as agentic, communal and social relationship were comparatively high. Especially, those of volunteers were higher than child rearer. Secondly, the correlation of generativity and social relationship were positively related. Finally, hierarchical regression revealed that the variables explaining social relationship were health status and agentic generativity. That was, the more heathy, more having agentic generativity, their social relationship were intimate. Various interventions were recommended to activate the generativity of elderly women.
